​Job Opportunity: Chief Executive Officer

The Board of Libraries NI is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive who can provide the inspirational leadership necessary to build on existing strong foundations and take the organisation forward to the next stage of its development. 

The successful candidate will be an effective advocate for the public library service, supportive of its ethos and adept at building strong, productive partnerships and working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. She/he will be the principal advisor to the Board and will ensure that it receives consistently high-quality information and advice to inform the development and implementation of strategies and policies in support of Libraries NI’s vision, mission and corporate goals.   She/he will have the ability to lead, inspire, empower and motivate staff to deliver the most effective possible public library service for people living, working or studying in Northern Ireland. As the organisation’s Accounting Officer, she/he will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of financial probity, governance and accountability.

Volunteer Opportunity
 

Jo​b Title:                     Children’s Events Volunteer 

 

Amount of Hours:       Minimum 2 hours/week 

 

Location:                     Various libraries 

 

Description of role:      This is a great opportunity to gain experience in working with children in an informal learning environment. The volunteer will support Libraries NI staff in delivering activities to children in libraries, complementing the regular programmes already delivered to children. This may include supporting the new Big Summer Read.

Volunteer Opportunity

Job Title:  READING GROUP FACILITATOR IN LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH

Amount of Hours: Maximum eight hours per months 

Location: Various libraries 

Description of role: Can you speak a language other than English? Are you willing to read a book in that language and share your thoughts as a reading group facilitator? Are you aged 17 and over? 

Libraries NI is interested in working with volunteers to create shared spaces for people who speak languages other than English.

Job Title : Book Reviewer
LOCATION: Flexible - From Home
SUPERVISION:  Stock Access Officer
LENGTH OF COMMITMENT 12 months  
TIME INVOLVEMENT Flexible - Maximum of 6 hours per month

Description of Role

Provide reviews of books and eBooks available from Libraries NI, for use on the Libraries NI website and on social media.

 An offer of voluntary work may be subject to satisfactory completion of Access NI and related checks
