Libraries across Northern Ireland are buzzing with fun as children enjoy this year’s Big Summer Read.
Children, age 0 – 15 years, have been taking part in this reading adventure during the holidays with libraries holding almost 300 free events for them to enjoy as part of this reading celebration.
To make it even more exciting, libraries have chosen to accept a very special mission – they are hoping to reach the Moon by reading 238,855 books - the average number of miles from the Earth to the Moon. By the end of week three, children have travelled an impressive 183,096 miles (with each book borrowed equivalent to one mile) to bring us closer to the moon so we are well on our way to the moon!
Children can enjoy this exciting reading journey until 31 August by visiting a local library or mobile library.
