Names of Kilkeel and Beyond’ by Gordon
McCoy on Tuesday 24 October 2017 at 6:30pm.
this talk, Gordon McCoy will look at the influence of the Irish language on
local place names, as well as relating some of the problems of translating
place names leading to differing interpretations and spectacular mistakes!
Gordon received a doctorate from Queen’s University
Belfast for his thesis on Protestant learners of Irish in 1997. Gordon is the Irish
Language Education Officer for the East Belfast Mission.
