Enniskillen Library

The main Heritage collection for County Fermanagh is located in Enniskillen library. Included in this is a collection of over 200 books, journals and maps which record the history and the development of the railway system in Ireland. This material covers the period from the mid 19thC to the mid 20th century.

Enniskillen Library also houses the impressive “Dundas collection” a donation to the library by Mr John Dundas, a local resident. The collection was developed from research undertaken into the origins of the Dundas family from the Lothian area of Scotland and from County Fermanagh, by John Dundas.

The Military History Collection includes over 150 book titles, several of which were written by local military historians, and a number of journals relating to Irish regiments. Two of these regiments were based in Enniskillen-the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons and the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. The collection includes material on both Fermanagh military history and Irish military history in general, covering the period from the mid 1800’s until the present day.
