On Tuesday 9th June 2009 Holywood library will be hosting free workshops introducing the Ancestry Library Edition. This exciting resource is now available free from the Libraries NI network to library members and is ideal for researching family and social history, permitting online access to more than 5 billion names in over 4,000 collections, and covering 1300 to the present. It is a developing website with new material being added on a regular basis.
The workshops will demonstrate the variety of ways in which the database may be searched with tips on how to find relevant information. It will also direct users to useful features, including the Charts and Forms page which combines free blank forms and templates in one, easy-to-find location.
“Specifically designed for libraries, Ancestry Library Edition is a wonderful addition to the Libraries NI online library, providing free access to a large amount of genealogical information. The United Kingdom and Ireland Census Collection, a Military Collection, as well as an Immigration Collection which includes passengers lists, are only some of the key resources featured. We anticipate that many people will benefit from using the Ancestry Library Edition in the quest for their family roots,” commented Mary Bradley, Local Studies Librarian, Ballynahinch, Libraries NI.
Booking is essential as places for these workshops are restricted
