Members of Shantallow Library’s Junior Reading Group are photographed below (on the left) receiving their ‘Dark Night Reads’ Certificates at a presentation evening, held in Shantallow Library on Thursday 7th April.
Dark Night Reads is a real family literacy event which promotes reading, creative writing and oral presentation for primary school children who must be accompanied by their parent/guardian. The group is open to boys and girls age 5-11years who write on a given topic and present their work orally to their parents. Recommence Thurs 13th October 2011 at 6.30p.m.
Thereafter on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 13th October through to April 2012.
Also pictured below (on the right) are children and staff from St. Paul’s Primary School Nursery Unit pictured receiving their Bookstart Treasure chests from Stephanie McNicholl Shantallow Branch Library Manager. The treasure chests are for children who are due to start school in September 2011.
