Book a Coffee Morning with Libraries NI
Libraries NI is inviting its customers and the general public to come along to coffee mornings being held in 57 libraries across Northern Ireland, on Friday 30th September as part of Macmillan Cancer Support World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is in its 21st year and is one of the largest fundraising events in the UK. Last year across Northern Ireland alone over 900 coffee mornings were held raising an amazing total of £180,000. This year with your help we want to make it bigger and better.

Macmillan Area Fundraising Manager Lisa McGrogan said: “We are delighted to have the support of Libraries NI with an impressive number of libraries taking part, to offer another way for the general public to become involved in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.  Libraries serve all the community and offer a great place to access information and the services provided by Macmillan.”

57 libraries across Northern Ireland are participating in the event, ranging from large branches, including Belfast Central, Ballymena and Bangor Carnegie Libraries, to smaller ones such as Ballycastle,  Kilkeel and Lisnaskea Libraries.

The Coffee morning is such a social event and it is great that the public will have the opportunity to attend events across Northern Ireland including regional areas, as a result of the involvement of Libraries NI.

Irene Knox, Chief Executive, Libraries NI, said:

“Libraries NI is delighted to be hosting coffee mornings in 57 libraries in all corners of Northern Ireland for Macmillan Cancer Support, which helps improve the lives of people affected by cancer. Libraries are free, welcoming, community venues for everyone, so we would like to invite people to call into a local library on Friday 30th September and support this great charity with its work in the fight against cancer.”

The money raised during coffee morning will be used to fund vital services across Northern Ireland including the Support and Information Services available at City Hospital Belfast, Ulster Hospital and the Macmillan North West Welfare Benefit Service at Altnagelvin Hospital.

So book it in and pop along to your local library to raise a cuppa for Macmillan.

Library staff from the Libraries NI Specialist teams will be available at the Macmillan coffee mornings to give advice about and demonstrate library online resources. These specialists will be present in the following libraries: Antrim library, Belfast Central library, Newry City library, Bangor Carnegie library, Lisburn City library, Armagh library, Cookstown library, Enniskillen library and Omagh library.
