Derry Central Library Hosts Booker Prize Evening

Libraries NI is delighted to announce that Derry Central Library will host a Booker Prize Evening on Tuesday 18th October at 8.00pm.

You are invited to come along and hear a panel discussion of the Booker Prize shortlist, followed by live announcement of the Man Booker Prize for Fiction 2011 on the big screen TV, which will be broadcast from an awards ceremony in London on the night. The prize is the world's most important literary award and has the power to transform the fortunes of authors and even publishers.

During this Derry Central Library’s Booker Prize Evening event, the panel will discuss the shortlisted books and invite comments and participation from the audience in relation to the shortlisted books.

The six books, selected from the longlist of 13, are: Julian Barnes The Sense of an Ending, Carol Birch Jamrach’s Menagerie, Patrick deWitt The Sisters Brothers, Esi Edugyan Half Blood Blues, Stephen Kelman Pigeon English and A.D. Miller Snowdrops.

The Panel (pictured below) will be made up of Gerard Brennan, writer and blogger of Crime Scene NI, Kate Newmann, poet and Garbhan Downey, novelist and journalist.

Refreshments will be served and admission to this event is free.
