Libraries NI is pleased to announce that Omagh Library is holding a Gardening Extravaganza on Saturday 8th October, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
If you’re green with envy at other people’s gardens, then come along to Omagh Library for help!
Organisations relating to gardening, flowers, grow your own vegetables, garden wildlife and biodiversity will be attending this Gardening Extravaganza day, to help “budding” gardeners discover the joys to be found in your garden – from flowers, fruit and vegetables to bees, butterflies and birds.
If you need help to start your own gardening projects and get answers to questions such as advice on the best flowers for cutting and arranging, what flowers attract wildlife, what you can put in your home composter, and much more, then come along to Omagh Library.
There will also be displays from a range of organisations. Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland will be carrying out composting demonstrations as part of the Department of the Environment’s (DOE’s) Rethink Waste Campaign and you will be able to visit their mobile “Green Machine” and displays highlighting suitable materials for home composting.
During the event, there will be demonstrations to show how gardening is for everyone – there will be a focus on sensory gardening for visually-impaired people and the green gym for people recovering from illness.
You are also invited to bring your own contributions to our “sharing table” where seeds, bulbs and cuttings will be available for you to take home (for as long as stock lasts).
Julie Gibson, Omagh Branch Library Manager, explains:
“We would like to invite all green-fingered gardeners and those interested in improving their gardening knowledge to come along to this free Gardening Extravaganza Event in Omagh Library on 8th October. Various organisations will provide stands, demonstrations and displays which attendees can browse and receive gardening tips from, such as advice on potting your hanging baskets, garden pots and help to improve and take care of your outdoor space.”
Everyone is welcome to come along to this event on Saturday 8th October in Omagh Library, starting at 2.00pm. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.
