Magic and Fun with Libraries NI

Friday 1st May 2009

Magic and Fun with Libraries NI

Libraries NI, in partnership with W5, will be holding a series of free events during the next 8 weeks to introduce children to the magic of science.

The educational outreach team from W5 will visit 11 libraries across Northern Ireland and is part of an ongoing Libraries NI Science Initiative.

Stephen Bleakley, Senior Librarian with Libraries NI, believes this is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the fun and excitement of science - especially for those who have yet to visit the W5 centre in Belfast

“Using the coolest and latest gadgets, the team from W5 will present an entertaining and interactive 50 minute session which will captivate the minds of both young and older audiences.”

“Libraries NI are delighted to bring these free events to some of our more rural libraries.  It is sometimes difficult for children to visit Belfast and our partnership with W5 means that children can benefit from the magical science workshops just by attending their local library.”

“This is an excellent opportunity to have some family fun whilst learning something new at the same time.”

All events are free of charge and will take place in the following libraries:

Thursday 30th April at Limavady Library, Tuesday 5th May at Dungannon Library, Thursday 7th May at Strabane Library, Tuesday 12th Mat at Derry Central Library, Thursday 14th May at Magherafelt Library, Thursday 21st May at Ballycastle Library and Cushendall Library, Saturday 23rd May at Lurgan Library, Thursday 28th May at Warrenpoint Library, Tuesday 2nd June at Bessbrook Library and Saturday 20th June at Coleraine Library.

Places limited and must be booked so please contact the libraries directly. Contact details for all libraries can be found at www.librariesni.org.uk
