New resource for our migrant neighbours

Have you recently moved to live and work in Northern Ireland? Would you like help in settling in your new home? Then your local library can help!

Through the library’s Online Library facilities, you can now access EISODOS – which is a new Migrant Communities Information Resource.

The EISODOS database has been developed by Careers Europe and contains information for refugees, asylum seekers, EU Migrants and for those working with Migrants and Asylum Seekers.

This resource provides information on your rights to live, work and study in the UK, as well as applicable rules and regulations – and to make it relevant to as many of our migrant communities as possible, this information is available to print in an array of 23 foreign languages.

The Asylum Seekers section of the database has information in twelve languages covering the most commonly encountered refugee groups, while the EU Migrants section has information in eleven EU languages: Bulgarian, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak and Slovenian.

As a library member, you have free internet access to all Online Library resources.
Not only do the Online Library resources include the EISODOS database, but they also give library users access to an impressive collection of other free news and information resources.

Yvonne Hirst, Information and Communication Manager, NEELB Library Service explains:
“We are delighted to announce the addition of EISODOS as an online resource for library users, which should appeal to our migrant communities across Northern Ireland. For further information, ask at your local library and staff will assist you on accessing EISODOS and other online resources”.

EISODOS and all other Online Library resources can be used from home by registered library users. You will need to have your library card number to log in, which is available on your library membership card. Simply go to www.ni-libraries.net, click on Online Library and browse though these online resources at your leisure for free.
