Libraries NI is hosting Painting for Pleasure, an Art exhibition by Joe Gildea (D.A, N.D.D, A.T.C.), from Monday 23rd January – Wednesday 22nd February 2012 in the curve, Bangor Carnegie Library.
Many of the paintings in this exhibition are the result of demonstrations to art classes and responses to travel he has enjoyed in various countries, while others are a reflection of Joe’s own personal faith.
Joe Gildea, artist, explains:
“The majority of my paintings in this Painting for Pleasure exhibition are in acrylics as I enjoy the freedom & versatility of the medium. I feel privileged to be able to re-create in paint what has already been created. I hope that some enjoy looking at these pictures as much as I have enjoyed painting them.”
Joe studied fine art specializing in stained glass design at Belfast College of Art 1957-62, followed by teacher training at Hornsey College of Art 1962-63. He also taught art in Methodist College & Bangor Grammar School and is now retired and enjoying his leisure time creating new art pieces.
Joe will be donating 50 percent of the proceeds of all sales from this exhibition to ‘Pebbles Children's Home’ for slum children in Faridabad, India.
Admission to this exhibition is free, which you can come along and see, from 23rd January – 22nd February, during library opening hours.
