Libraries NI is pleased to announce that Lisburn City Library will be the venue for
‘Tudors Toughs’, an illustrated talk by Ernest McCall.
This event will take place on Wednesday 14
th December at 2.30pm.
‘Tudors Toughs’ tells the true story of the Auxiliary Division Royal Irish Constabulary fighting the IRA from 1920 - 1922 and this illustrated talk by Ernest McCall is based on his book,
‘The Auxiliaries - Tudors Toughs’.
Ernest McCall lives in Newtownards and is currently working on a follow-up volume to this book.
The book describes incidents that the Auxiliary Division Royal Irish Constabulary (ADRIC) was involved in and it also lists the men of the ADRIC into the relevant Companies and locations around Ireland. The book has many photographs showing uniforms, weapons, vehicles and some snapshots during terrorist incidents.
Joan Magee, Heritage Services Manager with Libraries NI, explains:
“The Auxiliaries - Tudor's Toughs is a truly impressive book and a must have for any person interested in that period of Irish history. Admission to this book talk is free and everyone is invited to come along to this event in Lisburn City Library on Wednesday 14th December at 2.30pm.”
