Derry Central Library is inviting you to come along to enjoy a Turn Back Time Reminiscence morning, on Tuesday 22nd February at 10.30am.
Do you remember the Golden Teapot? Or Brewster’s Bakery, Wilman’s Hairdressing salon or the great excitement caused by Dopy Dick? Did you shop in the city centre or did you work there and go on the staff outing?
Then come along to Central Library and join Ken McCormack for this reminiscence morning and you will be able to look at old photographs and talk about life as you remember it in the 1940s and 1950s. This is a joint event staged by Libraries NI, Derry City Council and the BBC. Also on display will be unique images of streets and shops through the ages from the Bigger and McDonald photographic collection, now held in the Foyle Street Library.
Visitors to this event will also have the opportunity to have a look at the very popular Libraries NI own exhibition “All our Saturdays” which celebrates sporting excellence in NI. The display features a range of home grown sporting talent as seen through the eyes of Ireland’s Saturday Night; Northern Ireland’s bestselling sports newspaper, which ceased publication in July 2008.
Maura Craig, Area Manager with libraries NI explains:
“Libraries NI invites you to come along to share your memories, bring your old photographs and enjoy a trip down memory lane. People of all ages are welcome to come along to chat about their memories of life in the city.”
This event is free and light refreshments will be available.
You can contact Derry Central Library (35 Foyle Street, tel. 028 7127 2320) for more information.
