Writer in Residence Bernie McGill

Hello there. My name’s Bernie McGill and I’m the Writer in Residence for Libraries NI for Creativity Month. I’ll be galloping around libraries throughout March 2013, giving talks, leading seminars and facilitating workshops, clinics and readings, all on the subject of books and writing and in between times, I’ll be blogging about my goings-on right here. You can find out more about the kind of thing I write here and here and you’ll find the full programme of events for Creativity Month at this link. But if you just want to know what writing events are happening near you (and why wouldn’t you?), click on the links below and you’ll find the details for individual Writer in Residence events. Here’s the whistle stop tour:

Bangor Carnegie Library, Creative Writing Seminar on the Novel, Saturday 2nd March, 2pm-4pm

Banbridge Library, Creative Writing Workshop, Tuesday 5th March at 6pm-8pm

Belfast Central Library, Creative Writing Clinic, Thursday 7th March 3pm-7pm

Coleraine Library, Creative Writing Clinic, Sunday 10th March, 1.30pm-4.30pm

Derry Central Library, Seminar on How to Get Published, Monday 11th March, 7pm-9pm

Omagh Library, Creative Writing Workshop, Tuesday 12th March, 6pm-8pm

Newry City Library, Creative Writing Workshop on Writing Short Stories, Tuesday 26th March, 6pm-8pm

Ballyhackamore Library, Creative Writing Workshop, Thursday 28th March 6pm-8pm

So now you know where to find me. I may pop up in a few other places, when you’re least expecting it but if I told you where or when, then it wouldn’t be a surprise would it? In the meantime, I’ll be tweeting at @berniemcgill, hashtag #writerinres. Hope to see you somewhere along the way. Do please keep an eye on this blog for updates and by all means, leave us a comment. We'd love to hear from you.

Claire - Many thanks for the positive feedback and I am so glad you got so much out of your session with Bernie.
Maybe in the not too distant future we will be launching one of your books in the library :-)

Really enjoyed the writing clinic session on Sunday in Coleraine Library. I got lots of useful feedback from Bernie on my work, which has inspired me to get stuck into my re-drafting. It makes all the difference to get an insight from an experienced author. Many thanks!
