Jo​b Title:                      Finance Assistant

Amount of Hours:       36 per week 

Location:                      Finance Department,
​                                      Business Support, Portadown Library  

Description of role:     The postholder will support the efficient running of the Finance function, including payment of supplier invoices, collection and recording of income from all sources, administration of petty cash claims, and ensuring that financial procedures in these areas are applied. They will also be required to assist in the analysis of data using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and to prepare word-processed documents using Microsoft Word.

Jo​b Title:                      Deputy Finance Manager

Amount of Hours:       36 per week 

Location:                     Portadown Library  

Description of role:    To provide a comprehensive professional management accounting and financial management service in support of the Libraries NI’s activities.
To supervise the payroll and procurement function; to assist the Finance Manager in the development of appropriate policies, procedures and practices, and ensure that these are implemented as designed; to assist in the implementation of Financial Accounting and Payroll systems for Libraries NI.
To manage and maintain effective Finance IT systems and administrative systems, existing and future.

​Jo​b Title: Library Advocate


Amount of Hours:​ a minimum of one hour and a maximum of six hours per month

Location: Based in a library – location to be agreed with the volunteer​ 

:
• help to promote the library service in the community. This might include delivering posters/leaflets in local areas
• use local knowledge to assist the manager to link to local groups, schools, and other organisations
• to support in the promotion of the library as a local community resource. This might include assisting library staff at outreach events to hand out information and talk to members of the public

Jo​b Title:                     Children’s Events Volunteer 

Amount of Hours:       Minimum 2 hours/week  

Location:                     Various libraries  

Description of role:      This is a great opportunity to gain experience in working with children in an informal learning environment. The volunteer will support Libraries NI staff in delivering activities to children in libraries, complementing the regular programmes already delivered to children. This may include supporting the new Big Summer Read.​​

SUPERVISION:  Stock Access Officer
LENGTH OF COMMITMENT 12 months  
TIME INVOLVEMENT Flexible - Maximum of 6 hours per month

Description of Role

Provide reviews of books and eBooks available from Libraries NI, for use on the Libraries NI website and on social media.

 An offer of voluntary work may be subject to satisfactory completion of Access NI and related checks
