Libraries NI has announced that The Open University will run another series of information events at libraries across Northern Ireland.
The events, aimed at those wanting to improve their knowledge and career prospects and gain a qualification, will highlight the benefits of studying part-time through supported distance and open learning. Open University staff will provide information on undergraduate and postgraduate courses/qualifications and various ways to finance them.
The Open University offers over 400 courses leading to up to 200 qualifications in a range of fascinating subjects, the session is open to everyone so why not come along and an Open University tutor will be on hand to answer your queries. No appointment is necessary.
Libraries NI Chief Executive Jim O’Hagan commented;
“Libraries have always played a role in promoting lifelong learning and helping people to realise their aspirations. An important part of this role has been our relationship with The Open University. For the past 20 years we have worked together to inspire people to explore courses and flexible studying options and also to make use of the resources available in local libraries.
“Studying using this flexible approach to learning can fit perfectly around your family and other commitments and for some of the courses you don’t need to have previous qualifications. I would encourage everyone to come along to these library events to find out more about the wide range of options available.”
John D’Arcy, National Director of The Open University said;
“Working with Libraries NI is a great opportunity for The Open University to promote our courses to citizens across Northern Ireland.
“The Open University specialises in giving people the opportunity to study towards a higher level qualification in a way that fits around their job, family, caring commitments and also where they live. People don’t need to travel to a campus university as students can access learning resources anytime and anywhere that suits them.
“Our work with local libraries across Northern Ireland allows us to highlight this advantage of part-time study to people in local areas. I would urge anyone with an interest in undertaking a qualification with The Open University, at a time and pace that suits them, to come along to speak to one of our tutors.”
