Customer Message from Jim O'Hagan, Chief Executive, Libraries NI - 4 May

Jim O'Hagan Chief Executive Libraries NI

These are challenging times for everyone and I wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks to our staff and to all of our customers. Many of our staff are now working from home, responding promptly and creatively to the pace of change in this current situation. There are now regular videos on Facebook and YouTube providing storytelling, Rhythm and Rhyme, book reviews, insights into heritage resources and important points of information for customers to help with life during lockdown. Please can I encourage you to follow us on social media just to see some of the brilliant things that staff are doing while working from their homes.

Also we have increased our online offer recently with the addition of eNewspapers, building on the existing services of eMagazines, eBooks and audiobooks. There has been a massive increase in our use of online services during this time as we have now crossed a threshold with over 200,000 eloans (eMagazines, eBooks and audiobooks) taking place in one month. If you need any help to access these services then please visit here, alternatively call 0345 450 4580 or email enquiries@librariesni.org.uk for advice.

We are so grateful to customers who have kept in touch or asked about the wellbeing of staff through social media and email. Libraries NI will continue to follow Government guidance and remain closed until the lockdown is released. Our main priority remains the safety of both our staff and our customers. Please keep checking our website and social media for further information and service updates.

Thanks again for all your feedback; please stay safe and, if you can, help others in your community
