COVID-19 / Service Updates Libraries NI CatalogueApologies - we are experiencing difficulties with the catalogue as it doesn’t appear to be showing titles available on eBook and audiobook. We hope to get this resolved as quickly as possible. In the meantime please check the Libby and BorrowBox apps to see what we have available. Thank you and apologies for any inconvenience. Service Update - 23 December 2021In light of the Northern Ireland Executive’s recent announcement concerning additional COVID-19 restrictions, from Tuesday 4 January, libraries will be offering book browsing and borrowing and access to the Internet, Wi-Fi and study facilities. However we recommend that you contact the library in advance of your visit to check that it is open. Safety procedures will be in place and customers entering a library must follow social distancing guidance, must wear a face covering and use the hand sanitiser provided. Events will not be taking place in any library until further notice, however customers can continue to access a programme of virtual events. The mobile libraries will not be operational until further notice. The Book and Collect Service will continue to operate in all libraries along with our popular online resources providing free access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, however the health and safety of our customers and staff remains our utmost priority. Find out moreLibrary Opening Hours and ServicesLibraries NI is pleased to announce that public libraries across Northern Ireland are taking the next steps to reintroduce services and increase opening hours, including late nights and Saturdays, from the 6 September. Updates will be posted here when available.A number of services are being reinstated including the reintroduction of hard copy newspapers, the return of soft seating and study space without time restriction and the eagerly awaited start of activities for children and adults in many local libraries with appropriate restrictions on numbers attending to ensure social distancing.To make everyone’s visit as comfortable as possible, customers are asked to use the hand sanitiser provided, wear a face covering and maintain a suitable social distance during your time inside the library. eBook and eAudiobook ServiceWe have expanded our eBook and eAudiobook service with the addition of BorrowBox! Customers can make the most of a wide selection of titles available by downloading both the Libby and BorrowBox apps to your preferred electronic device. More infoWe also apologise for any inconvenience caused by the following notices: - ALL MOBILE LIBRARIES ARE UNAVAILABLE DURING JANUARY 2022.- Due to essential maintenance works, Downpatrick Library will be closed on Monday 7 February until Spring 2022. More information.- Cregagh Library will temporarily close at the earlier time of 5:00pm on Monday evenings and not at the usual 8.00pm for the remainder of the month of January, including 24 and 31 January. Alternative libraries include Belfast Central Library and Ballyhackamore Library.- Warrenpoint Library will be closed for refurbishment work from the 31 January until the Spring. During this time of refurbishment work, Warrenpoint Library customers will be able to make full use of nearby Newry City and Kilkeel libraries.- Portstewart Library will reopen at 10:00am on Tuesday 11 January 2022 in new premises located at 162a Station Road, Portstewart, BT55 7PU.- Saintfield Library's Out of Hours Service will be unavailable until further notice as essential maintenance is required in order to facilitate this service. However, the Library remains open during its normal opening hours.- Grove Library will continue to close at the earlier time of 5:30pm on Thursdays for the month of January 2022, rather than 8:00pm. Alternative libraries include Chichester and Belfast Central.- Dungannon Mobile Library will be off the road until further notice.- The Cross Border Mobile Library is currently unavailable in order to facilitate essential maintenance.- Belfast Mobile (2) Library is unavailable until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.- The North West Mobile Library will be unavailable until further notice. - Lisnaskea Library's Out of Hours Service is temporarily unavailable due to a technical fault.
