Cursed

Cursed: An Anthology edited by Marie O’Regan and Paul Kane

Cursed is a collection of 20 short stories all themed around fairy-tales from a range of authors including Neil Gaiman. Some are retellings of traditional stories while others are brand new, modern fairy tales. There is a mixture of fantasy, horror and black comedy in this collection.

I especially enjoyed Henry and the Snakewood Box- a twisted but very funny story about a demon who grants wishes- at a cost; The Black Fairy’s Curse- which looks at the traditional story from Sleeping Beauty’s perspective: maybe she didn’t want to be woken up! Wendy, Darling- which puts a very different, and much darker spin on the Peter Pan story; and Look Inside- a quirky modern fairy tale.

This collection is ideal for adults and teens; and is perfect if you want something you can dip in and out of- although I did read it cover to cover!
