The Decade of Centenaries: Sisters, Surgeons and Soldiers on the Somme:one hundred and forty four days of casualty management on the Somme
Dr. Yvonne McEwen from University of Edinburgh will give an illustrated presentation on the soldiers who became casualities during the Battle of the Somme and the men and women who nursed them. Her talk will illustrate the human face of warfare and the spirit of endurance in the face of great suffering. Her talk will appeal to those who are interested in the medical history of the Great War as well as the general public.

Junior reading group for children aged 12-14.

The 1st Thursday of every month.

Facilitated by Karen Rushbury-Reynolds.
This group aims to allow everyone’s reading experiences to be shared and enjoyed.

This is a drop in group with the Book of the Month being put on display in the branch the month before the discussion. There is no need to ‘join’ – just pop in when it suits if you have enjoyed the book – or even if you haven’t!
