Becoming A Member

Welcome to Libraries NI

You can join online in a matter of minutes, get a membership number and start to download eBooks, eMagazines, audiobooks and eNewspapers straightaway from this website. Just simply complete the online form on this page, choose your own four number pin combination (please note this) and you will receive your virtual membership number. Virtual members can access eResources at any stage but to borrow or request hard copy books you will need to become a full member by visiting your local library with proof of name and address.

Remember to complete online form on this page.

Libraries NI offers opportunities for all members of the community to access a range of free services.

Whether you’re looking to borrow books or need help to get online, a quiet place to study or a place to chat and meet new people, you have come to the right place.

There are 96 branch libraries, two specialist libraries and multiple mobile stops across Northern Ireland. All of which provide a range of resources for people who live, work or study here.

Branch libraries offer book borrowing, free Wi-Fi and computer use, printing and photocopying facilities as well as social activities and training courses. Some also have study space and access to special heritage collections.

Library membership is free and you can join at any age. It’s quick and easy to do – simply visit any library and bring proof of your name and current address e.g. a utility bill or driving licence. If you are under 16 the form will need to be signed by a parent or guardian.

Once you’re a member, you can use your library card in any public or mobile library in Northern Ireland – one card does all.
