Adult Reading Group 3  

Meeting every four weeks on a Tuesday from 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Adult Reading Groups are a great opportunity for members to join in some lively literary discussions in a relaxed, friendly environment. The groups encourage people to read for pleasure, share their enthusiasm and express opinions about books and their authors.
 

The group meets on a regular basis and the book the group will be discussing can be borrowed from the library catalogue for free.

Knit and Natter  
Weekly on Fridays from 10:00am - 12:00noon.

Knit and Natter groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Teen Tranquil Hour  

Do you need a break from your busy schedule? 
If so, visit Armagh City Library and enjoy an hour of peace and tranquillity in our Teenage Section. Take part in quizzes, games, mindful colouring and puzzles or just relax with a good book. Refreshments provided.

John Hewitt International Summer School - Louise Nealon in conversation with Niamh McNally  

To mark the publication of her second novel, Everything That is Beautiful, Louise Nealon will be in conversation with Niamh McNally, poet and John Hewitt Society Projects Manager.
 

Louise Nealon is a writer from County Kildare, Ireland. Her debut novel, Snowflake, won Newcomer of the Year at the Irish Book Awards and was the One Dublin, One Book choice for 2024. It has been translated into over a dozen languages. Everything That is Beautiful is her second novel.

Book Launch: The Lobster Pot by Bernie McQuillan and Covenants by Eric Greaves  

Two Former John Hewitt International Summer School Bursary recipients return to Armagh to launch their self-published debut novels.
 

Bernie McQuillan participated in Freedom to Write 2025 and her debut novel, The Lobster Pot (Indie Novella, London) is a Donegal literary mystery. An early draft was shortlisted by Watson Little x Indie Novella Prize, longlisted by the Caledonia Novel Award and highly commended by Irish Novel Fair.
 

Eric Greaves’ story, Shades of Jack, was published by Impspired.com for their August 2021 online edition and for their Print Anthology that year. He has had three pieces published in the Caught Alight anthology of Irish Writers and in The Corncrake, the Fermanagh literary magazine.

Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman  

Armagh City Library is delighted to welcome the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO), who will be hosting an information stand in the library. 
The NIPSO investigates complaints about public services in Northern Ireland. If you feel you have been treated unfairly by a public body, NIPSO provides a free, independent service to review your complaint. Their presence in Armagh City Library will provide an opportunity for the local community to learn more by meeting the NIPSO Policy and Engagement Team.
