Libraries NI Contemporary Fiction Collection
To celebrate Book Week NI, we have curated a special collection of local contemporary fiction, available at Belfast Central Library, showcasing the diversity of Northern Ireland’s rich literary tradition. The collection includes books published from 1900 onwards, written by authors who were born in or who lived in Northern Ireland.
The collection features novels, poetry, and plays from writers spanning the 20th century to today, and includes books set in Northern Ireland by authors from elsewhere. We've also included some crossover young adult and junior fiction.
From unforgettable characters to powerful narratives, these books offer unique perspectives and thought-provoking themes. Many of these titles will engage, entertain, and inspire readers across a variety of genres.
The collection will be available beyond Book Week, giving you plenty of time to discover these compelling reads. We’ll continue to update the Collection as new books are released and, as we fill gaps with overlooked titles from the past. If there are any authors or titles you think we should include then let us know.
Whether you're searching for a new favourite author or an unforgettable story, come and explore these remarkable titles that reflect the experiences of local writers, many with the backdrop of Northern Ireland’s stunning landscape.
Don't miss out on these must-reads!
