Reading Group recommendations

A photo of a stack of books

Sometimes it is hard to choose the best books for a Reading Group and we try to help by recommending titles and adding more up to date titles to our extensive Reading Group Collection. We have multiples of over 1000 titles available now for groups to borrow, both in our branches as well as external groups.

It is a great way to meet new people and connect with others as well as discovering some great new authors!

We’ve added some new copies of older titles to the Collection including two of my favourites for Reading Groups – Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Some of the new titles we have added to our collection recently include local author David Park’s Ghost Wedding – a dual time line story between the First World War and present day. The Irish wedding venue chosen by Alex and Ellie has a lake with an intriguing history and both stories have parallel themes of guilt and betrayal that keep you reading until the last page.Book cover image of Memoirs of A Geisha by Arthur Golden

The Bookbinder’s Secret by A D Box is based in Oxford at the turn of the last century. Alice a Bookbinder’s apprentice discovers secrets beneath old book bindings that lead her on a mission across the country to London and beyond to try to discover more about the story behind the mysterious messages. It’s a dark story of obsession and romance, a real page turner with plenty of topics for discussion.

Adriana Trigiani’s The Good Left Undone is a lighter tale, based around Italy, France and England. It skips through decades telling the story of Domenica’s life and loves as her granddaughter Matelda delves deep into the family history.  She discovers that her grandmother held much back from the family and the revelation of her long held secrets makes for riveting reading. I’ve long been a fan of this author and enjoyed this read immensely.

If you are part of a Reading Group or just looking for new inspiration why not try one of these titles?

You can thank me later!
