Knit and Natter  
Every Tuesday from 6:00pm to 7:15pm.

Booking is essential.

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Lego Club (on Fridays)  
Every Friday from 2.30pm – 3.30pm.  Booking is not required.
 
For children aged 5-10, all children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult.

Come along to have some lego building fun.

Gardening Club  

Portrush Library invites you to come along to our fortnightly Gardening Club, please call the library for dates, to learn, share and discuss all things gardening.

Lego Club (on Saturdays)  
Every Saturday from 11:00am – 12 noon.
 
Booking is not required. For children aged 5-10, all children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult.
Come along to have some Lego building fun. Fun and creative ideas for things to make and build.

Storytime  

Weekly, every Saturday from 12:30pm to 1:00pm. Suitable for ages 4-8 years.

Storytime sessions help children develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Junior Reading Group  

First Tuesday of every month between 3:30pm – 4:15pm.

 

For children aged 7-9 years, come and join our monthly Junior Reading Group. This group is a fun way for children to be introduced to a wide range of new books, authors and to make new friends along the way. Members are asked to read a chosen book before each meeting, which will be available to borrow for free from the library catalogue.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Wednesday from 11:00am to 1:00pm

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Adult Reading Group  

First Wednesday of every month from 3:00pm – 4:00pm

 

This group aims to allow everyone’s reading experiences to be shared and enjoyed. Participants don’t have to be library members but if you join, you can borrow the book the group will be discussing for free.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Monday from 10:45am to 11:15am.

Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Little Wings of Hope’ Exhibition by Dessie Smyth  

As part of the ‘Little Wings of Hope’ Collection, Portrush Library is delighted to host the 'Little Wings of Hope' Exhibition by local author and community figure, Dessie Smyth - a creative collection inspired by Dessie' own journey. Everyone Welcome. Available to view during opening hours.

Big Summer Read - 'Woodland Adventure!' Storytime and Binocular Craft Session  

It's time! The Big Summer Read is here and Portrush Library will be transformed into a whimsical woodland complete with it's very own 'Story Tree', as we invite all children aged 5-10 years to join our friendly library staff for a woodland themed story. Then take part in our 'Binoculars'  craft, using our selection of resources, to make your very own hand-crafted binoculars, ready to  walk through our 'inside woodland' in search of hidden woodland creatures!

Big Summer Read - 'Pirates Ahoy' The Great Treasure Hunt  

The sun is shining over Portrush and the sea is sparkling but a band of friendly pirates have lost their treasure. Who will help? If you are aged 5-10 years, come along to Portrush Library, listen to the pirate's tale and design a map to help solve the mystery of the buried treasure!

Big Summer Read - 'Ha, it’s the way you tell 'em! ' Joke-Making Workshop  

Its laugh out loud fun at Portrush Library as we invite children aged 5-10 years to come along and tell their favourite jokes to make the librarians laugh. But that’s not all, we're also making a silly hand puppet to make the jokes even funnier, ha ,ha, ha!

Big Summer Read - 'Superhero Saturday' Storytime and Craft  

Not all Superheroes wear a cape but they do wear a mask! In Portrush Library it's Superhero Saturday where all children aged 5-10 years are invited to join our friendly librarians, who will read Superhero stories and then help transform you into your very own Superhero in our fun craft, complete with special name, powers and super duper mask making.

Big Summer Read - 'Fantastic Food' Science Experiments  

From colour-changing cabbage and bouncy eggs to dancing lentils and magnetic cereal, turn milk into cheese and find out how bananas ripen and why onions make us cry. Portrush Library has a veritable feast of fascinating food science experiments for all keen young scientists aged 5-10 years, children aged 8 years and under must be accompanied by an adult to investigate!

Big Summer Read - 'Fantasy Fireworks' Craft  

It’s an evening of family entertainment in Portrush tonight, with Causeway Coast and Glens Council's fabulous Portrush Summer Evening Fireworks display to end the night. But in Portrush Library, come along and get arty by making your own fantasy fireworks to light up the sky, as children aged 5-10 years are invited to come along and join in the celebrations!

Children aged under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult. Booking not required.

Big Summer Read - 'Ukes on the Port!' Craft  

Strum and sing your way to Portrush Library, where an afternoon of musical craft awaits for children aged 5-10 years (children aged under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult), who will use junk materials to make their very own ukelele! You never know who may be passing and might pop in to listen to our music!

Big Summer Read - 'Monkey Puzzle' Storytime and Craft  

For children aged 5-10 years (children aged 8 years and under must be accompanied by an adult), come along to Portrush Library and listen as our friendly library staff read Julia Donaldson's wonderful story of 'Monkey Puzzle'- meet all the different animals in the story and then watch it come to life as we make beautiful and brightly coloured butterflies afterwards in a fun craft!

Big Summer Read - 'The Legend of Finn McCool' Storytime and Craft  

As the Big Summer Read reaches its conclusion, Portrush Library welcomes all children aged 5-10 years (children aged under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult) to come along and be transported back to the time of giants. Listen to the story of Finn McCool and how the Giant's Causeway was built before decorating your very own stone to start another Causeway!
