Customer Notices - Temporary Closure for Refurbishment

Bessbrook Library Temporary Planned Closure

Bessbrook Library will be closed temporarily from Wednesday 29 November 2023 and re-opening in Spring; this is to facilitate essential building work.

During this temporary closure, customers can visit any public library. The closest libraries include:

The planned works include installing improved insulation in the roof along with new LED lighting for energy efficiency. The interior of the library will also be enhanced with a new ceiling, new floor covering, and re-decoration of internal walls.

During the library closure, items can be renewed online with your library membership card and PIN number which is available from library staff. eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines can also be borrowed through our online library

Quiet hour every Wednesday from 4:00pm - 5:00pm. Escape the hustle and bustle in Bessbrook Library.

Knit and Natter  
Every Friday from 11:00am - 12:30pm.

Booking by telephone.

Knit and Natter groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Saturday from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

The Story Squad  
Meeting once a month on a Saturday from 12:00pm - 12:40pm. Date for next meeting is given at each meeting and advertised on the inside and outside of building and on social media.

Booking is essential.

Junior Reading Groups are a fun way for children to be introduced to a wide range of new books, authors and to make new friends along the way. Members are asked to read a chosen book before each meeting, which will be available to borrow for free from the library catalogue.

Lego Club  
First Saturday of the month on a Saturday from 11:30am - 1:30pm. 
 
Come along to have Lego building fun.
Fun and creative ideas for things to make and build.
Age 6+ Children must be accompanied by an adult.
