Session for ASD children and family members to play games and meet other parents and children.

 

Every fortnight on a Monday from 3:00pm - 4:00pm.

Lego Club  

Every Tuesday from 3:30pm - 4:30pm for children aged 7 - 11 years, children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

ASD friendly sessions will be available every second Monday from 3:00pm - 4:00pm for children aged 4 and over.

Knit and Natter  
Every Thursday from 11:00am - 12:00noon

Knit and Natter groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Friday from 10:45am - 11:15am.
 
Booking is essential and opens on Wednesday from 11:30am for each week’s session as places are limited.
Rhythm and Rhyme is an exciting free programme to introduce children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories in the library. 
 
Each session provides an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, and offers a foundation for developing reading, listening and language skills in a fun and entertaining way.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Wednesday from 10:00am - 12 noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Saturday Storytime  

Every Saturday from 11:00am - 11:30am.

Poet Laureate event with Artist Karen Blasko  

Join us to create your own Mournes landscape using pyrography (wood burning)! This hands-on workshop, guided by artist Karen Blasko, offers a unique opportunity to learn how to draw and write with a heated tool!

Poet Laureate event with Craig Fyfe  

Join artist Craig Fyfe to capture Newcastle’s spirit. In this drop-in workshop, you'll learn to draw, add colour to Newcastle-inspired postcard illustrations and personalise your work. Optionally, try simple screen printing or turn your unique artwork into a badge to take home! Why not call in!

Poet Laureate event with Simon Armitage

Poet Laureate Simon Armitage is coming to Newcastle Library for a special evening of live poetry.

He will be joined by Irish poet Dean Browne.

This event will be for audience aged 11 and over.
