Holidays Notice and Latest Service Updates

Libraries NI Christmas Holiday period will run from Monday 22 December to Saturday 27 December 2025 inclusive. Libraries NI will reopen to customers on Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 December with all libraries closing at 5:00pm on each of these days. Library opening hours vary, so please check our website for full details for your local library. 
All libraries will be closed on Thursday 1 January 2026 and normal opening hours will resume on Friday 2 January 2026.

Knit and Natter  
Every Monday from 10:30am to 11:30am.

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Booking is not required.

Every Tuesday from 11:30am to 12 noon.
Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.
Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Adult Reading Club  
First Friday of every month from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.

This group aims to allow everyone’s reading experiences to be shared and enjoyed. Participants don’t have to be library members but if you join, you can borrow the book the group will be discussing for free.

Chatterbooks  

First Monday of every month (please contact the library for specific dates) between 4:00pm to 4:45pm

Chatterbooks is an exciting Junior Reading Group where children aged 7 - 11 years can come along to chat about their favourite books, enjoy fun activities and crafts and meet new friends.

Tea and Newspapers (Wednesday and Thursday mornings)  

Weekly every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 10:00am to 12:00pm

 

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Every Wednesday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.

 

For children aged 5+ years. All children must be accompanied by a parent/carer.

Storytime  

Takes place every Thursday.

Storytime sessions help children aged 4 - 8 years develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Santa's Christmas Storytime and Christmas Character Craft - Children's Activity  

Coleraine Library invites children aged 4-8 years to come along and enjoy a selection of Christmas themed tales followed by a fun filled Christmas Character craft, were we will make our favourite Christmas characters from our selection of craft resources available.

Festive Christmas Choir Performance by Coleraine College  

Coleraine Library is delighted to welcome the pupils of Coleraine College to attend the library and sing a selection of beautiful Christmas Carols as part of our Christmas celebrations.

Join us in Coleraine Library as we get into the Christmas spirit and wear our festive Christmas Jumpers to celebrate Christmas Jumper Day 2025. Will you join our friendly library staff in donning your best Silly Santa's or Rocking Reindeers attire? We look forward to seeing.

As part of our Christmas celebrations, Coleraine Library invites you to come along and enjoy our Merry Christmas Party with tea, coffee and a selection of shortbread and mince pies on offer. Elf on the Shelf' - Christmas Scavenger Hunt  

To celebrate Christmas and get into the festive spirit, Coleraine Library invites children aged 4+ years to come along and search to find our naughty elf and his many secret hiding places within the library. Once you find the elf be sure to let our friendly library staff know where he was in case he gets away again.
