Customer Notice - Exceptional Closure

Temporary Closure of Waterside Library for Refurbishment Work

Due to refurbishment work, Waterside Library will be closed from Monday 5 February until Spring 2024.

During this temporary closure, customers can visit any public library.

The planned refurbishment work includes installation of a new energy efficient heating system, replacement of internal floor coverings and redecoration throughout.

During the library closure, items can be renewed online with your library membership card and PIN number which is available from library staff. eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines can also be borrowed through our online library.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Monday from 11:00am to 12 noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Wednesday from 10:30am to 11:30am.

Limited numbers, bookings only.

Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Adult Short Story reading group (2nd and 4th Wed of the month)  
The Adult Reading Group for 16's and over gives an opportunity for adults to discuss their latest book. 
This event takes place on the second and fourth Wednesday each month, 2:00pm – 3:00pm Adult Reading Groups are a great opportunity for members to join in some lively literary discussions in a relaxed, friendly environment.

The groups encourage people to read for pleasure, share their enthusiasm and express opinions about books and their authors. The group meets on a regular basis and the book that the group will be discussing can be borrowed from the library catalogue for free.

After School Board Games Club  
This event takes place every Tuesday and Thursday, 3:00pm – 4:00pm, for ages 6+ “some classic and some new board games to play”.

Lego is a play set which encourages imagination, fun & creativity. The club is suitable for all children aged 4 -11 with adult supervision.
