Dear Sir,

Just a few lines to let you know I am still alive & keeping in the pink, 27 this is my third letter to you since I came out here, but I have had no replies so far, so they must have been mislaid somewhere. The last I wrote was about the New Year, I also wrote home at the same time, but they did not receive it either, so I expect both letters went the same road.

I joined "D" Battery, 95th Brigade up near Mons and came down the line with them about a fortnight before Christmas to a little village called Argoèuves ( about 7 miles on this side of Amiens), I was transferred about three weeks ago to the 21st Divisional Ammunition Column at Candas, we are helping to demobilize the horses of the 3rd Army only, then when they are finished some other Army Corp will take this place over, it is a large Concentration Camp & our duty is to entrain the animals for the Rhine or for Blighty, according to their classification.

I have been waiting in the Officer's Mess this last four days, it is a very light job, but for the first day I found it one of the most awkward I ever tackled in my life, however I will be able to manage it alright in due course.

There seems to have been a lot of trouble lately in Belfast & all the other towns of importance are affected the same way, the public would feel it very much not having any light at night. I think the strike ought to be about settled by this time.

I have not much to say at present, I hope this finds you, Mr Gourley28 & all the rest in good health, kindly remember me to the boys.

Best wishes to all.

I am Dear Sir
Yours obediently
R. Alexander
