Dear Mr Elliott,
Yours of the 14th inst. 4 received last night. I must apologize for my slackness in writing. There is very little time between tea and post collection, and I have not every night free. You know when a thing like this is put off one night, it is a long time before it is completed.
I got a very nice Christmas card from McCausland last night. I hear fairly regularly from him, so I expect he is well. He said in one of his letters that he was expecting home soon.
I am glad to hear about Capt's Simpson5 and Coulson. I often wondered where they were and if I would ever see them. One day I thought I saw Lt. Warren going by mounted, but I must have been mistaken.
Should I see Eagleson I will give him a hint. I got Fitzsimons' add. intending to write to him but I lost it.
Please remember me to the staff & I hope you will all have a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year.
Your Obedt Servant,
1839 W Brown
