Dear Sir,

In reply to your letter dated 11th inst. 6 and received yesterday.

I made an allotment of '6 per day to my people. How much they more they are getting, if any, I could not say. If this, information is not sufficient an enquiry at my home add. 51 Lichfield Av., would give you more. But I am very sorry I can not give you more & fuller particulars.

I heard with great sorrow of the Chief's death7 and express my sincere sympathy with his relatives and to the staff.

I have been very busy lately & intended writing sooner. I would have written some time to you anyhow.

The only one of the staff I have met out here was Freeland last September.

McCausland wrote to me when he left for England but not since. As for the rest of the staff military & civilians. I have not seen the military and the civilians are suffering from writer's cramp. I mean my own pals in the central. J Fleming8 writes very often & is the only one I hear from.
Please remember me to all the staff.

I am Dear Sir
Your Obedt Servant
