Very many thanks for your letter received a few days ago.

Many a time I think you must be very busy with the staff always changing, and especially at this time.

I heard from McCausland¹² when he was home from England, but not since. Joe Fleming¹³ told me that Warren was missing, but it is not so bad to know that he is alive.

I have not met any of the staff out here except Freeland. Please remember me to my old friends of the staff.
