Trooper W. Brown 1839,
'D' Squadron, 1st N.I.H.
19th Corps. B.E.F. France
Dear Brown,
I was glad to get your short note dated 20th July but was not able to answer it sooner as I was going on holidays at the time and have been pretty busy since. I am glad to know that you are keeping well and have escaped safely so far, and that you will not forget to write me soon and give me a little more news than you did last time.
The only fresh news that I have with regard to the boys in the Army is that McCausland is on his way to Salonica; I had a post card from him about a week ago from the South of Italy so that he is possibly at the Eastern Front by now. The other members in the army are, I believe, in France except Butler, who, I am afraid is in trouble.
We have had no changes in the staff in the Library lately except that Miss Miller14 has returned to duty15 , and I have no other news. With best wishes from the staff and myself for your success and safety.
I remain,
Yours sincerely,
JBG
