My dear Coulson,

I was very pleased to have your letter of the 8th inst. 89 What a rough and tumble time you have had. Still you and your men are up to a very big work which will need every bit of your energy. We have every confidence in our men at the front, and we are battling with our enemy to the utmost. Many of us think the ebb of his strength is beginning, nevertheless, we have yet a big lot to do.

I had a letter from Captain Simpson90 a few days ago, from Longbridge, Deverill Wilts. He and his men are ready to move instantly to the front. He says they are all very fit.

Now Coulson, I shall be glad to hear from you at any time, and trust you will not fail to keep in touch with me. All of us here wish you success and Godspeed in your work.

With our kindest regards and good wishes.

I am,

Yours sincerely,

CHIEF LIBRARIAN

Captain Coulson
16th Batt. R.I.R. (P)
British Expeditionary Force,
