My Dear Goldsbrough,

I suppose that now the end is in sight you will be wondering when we shall all be back within the fold again. Just at present it is impossible to give even an approximate date. All I can tell you is that we people who have jobs to return to will leave first & I don't propose to wait any longer than is necessary before leaving. However, I am expecting leave before many days (in about 2 or 3 weeks) & so will try to reach Belfast & see you. My address is still XIXth Corps School, & I have got a new appointment now as Education Officer for the Corps. That is to say I am responsible for the education of all the men in our corps, under this new scheme by which every man is to be taught something. Of course I took it only on the understanding that it did not interfere with my leaving the army.

Frankly I am not over delighted at the prospect of giving up this work. Only four months ago I was transferred to the General Staff & at once a prospect was opened out for me. It does seem hard luck having to sacrifice it (& the accompanying salary!) for our £150 a year & damn all prospect of any change. Unless you have some miracle in view.

Well everyone here is enormously bucked147 & very cheerful but of course there is one desire uppermost in their mind. "When will we get home Sir?" I am asked a hundred times a day! I have given two lectures a day for the last week in "Demobilisation" & have to lecture in "Imperial history" & Economics every day.

How is everyone at home? I hope they are well & flourishing. Please remember me to them will you, & tell Milligan148 I have enough new yarns to keep him going for a week.

Best of wishes to you & kind regards.

Yours very sincerely,

T. Coulson

Will tell you as soon as I know definitely when we shall be home.
