Capt. T Coulson
19th Corps School
B.E.F.
France

My Dear Coulson,

I was very glad to receive your letter of the 14th ult149 , and to know that you have come safely through. I am sure you are not the only one who is looking forward to a return to the fold. Last week I got two letters from the Front, and had two visits from returned prisoners (Warren and O'Rourke), all of whom are anxious to settle down again.

Things here are very uncertain financially. We on the salary list are receiving £50 bonus, but how long it will last and what will happen when the war is over, whether they will let us retain it at all, or only a portion, and whether those returned from the Army will participate in it or not, are things that lie hidden in the future.

You seem to be very lucky in getting nice soft jobs: you will hardly like coming back to Library work again after acting as Professor in an Army Corps. How is your wife getting on in England, and when are you bringing her over to Belfast? We are all quite anxious to make her acquaintance.

I am glad to say that we are all quite well at Fitzwilliam Street150 at present. The boys have both had the "Flu", but the rest of us have so far escaped.

All the old members of the staff wish to be remembered to you, as also do our mutual friends, Gibson, and Milligan. So with kind regards from myself and family.

I remain,

Yours sincerely,

JBG
