Dear Sir,

I have not heard from you for a long time, so I have come to the conclusion that my last letter to you has been mislaid. I have left the 29th and my address now is No. 6 Native Labour Hospital, A.P.O S100 Italian Ex. Force. The hospital is composed of tents and mud, mostly mud. It is the worst place I have dropped into since leaving France & the sooner somebody in authority here realises that I am anxious to get back to the library, the better for me, or I shall die of ennui.

I am right down on on the south coast of Italy, hundreds of miles away from my previous place, and about the only advantage is that the weather keeps warm. It is as warm here now as it would be in April at home, so it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good. I am working in the office, in fact it was on account of my experiences of Army office work that I was transferred here. I can assure you Sir that I am very anxious to get back to the library, and to recommence studying for certificates. I have read in the papers that both Brown and Scilley73 have been killed I am very sorry indeed to hear such terrible news, and Scilley's people are to be sympathised with very much as they have lost two sons. I consider myself more than fortunate in getting through over four years of it with such a slight touch as I got, compared with what some other fellows have had to suffer. Well Sir I shall not bore you any longer with my petty troubles, and I sincerely hope sir you are keeping in the best of health, as it is a difficult thing to do now-a-days.

I remain Sir
Your obedient servant
J.F. Eagleson
