41st Casualty Clearing Stn.
B.E.F. France
16th April 17

Dear Mr Goldsbrough,

Received your note this afternoon with inquiries re separation allowance alloted174 to my parents. The total sum my mother receives is 9 shillings per week. This is made up by 6d per day I allot from my pay, the Government supplement the rest. I hope you will find these replies to your satisfaction. As you see from the papers our boys are making a determined advance on the enemie's175 lines. As our station is on the scene of the fighting we are working practically night and day dealing with the casualties.

I hope before long the enemy will be on the run. The German prisoners have been marched through our place in thousands and we have great numbers of German wounded in our hospital. When the rush is over I will write you a long letter on my impressions of the big advance.

I must conclude now as I am writing this note whilst on duty and we are very busy at present. Hoping you are in the best of health as I am at present. Best wishes to yourself and all the staff.

Yours very sincerely,

Joe Fitzsimons
