Dear McCausland,

I was very pleased to have your letter of Tuesday last, and congratulate you upon its descriptiveness of the country. I am glad to see you have been keeping your eyes open to good advantage. Placed as you are, you have much need to be on the alert.

Your letter is so interesting I have had it read to all the Library staff and mean to show it to the Branch men too.

I am glad to know that you are keeping well, and trust you will remain so. I don't know whether you have met with any of the Library men over there so far, but I had a short note the other day from Roy of Oldpark Road Branch, who is in the trenches. I also had an interesting letter from Captain Coulson who also is in France.

Now, I shall be glad to hear from you whenever you have time to send me a few lines.
With our kind regards and good wishes for your success and safe return.

I am,
Yours sincerely,

CHIEF LIBRARIAN

Corporal John McCausland
