Stobs Camp
Hawick
10/8/1915

Dear Mr Goldsbrough,

Just a line to you as promised, I am still alive and kicking, indeed as far as I can see it will be some time before we see the front.

We have quite a lot of junior officers here in this Brigade, which is a reserve one. These officers are trained together as a company, and and are known throughout the camp as the "Key stone Battn", under the command of "Charlie Chaplin," taking every thing all round we manage to enjoy ourselves.

This camp is very muddy and it rains every other day, and then the mess is worse than ever, but you soon get accustomed to the mud and I like the life alright.

I am writing to Mr Simpson48 & I hope to be able to get over to see him some weekend. As for leave, it is very scarce here & it will be months before I get over home again, but one can just hope for the best.

Give my very best respects to Mr Elliott and I hope that he is in good health and that he had an enjoyable holiday. Well Mr Goldsbrough, I am afraid that I have nothing more to write about, but I will write to you soon.

So with very good wishes for your health and prosperity,

I remain,
Yours sincerely,

M. Warren
14th Royal Scots
