Readers and literature lovers are invited to a special evening with bestselling novelist Patrick Gale at Belfast Central Library later this month.

The acclaimed author will appear in conversation on Monday 30 March at 7:00pm, discussing his new novel Love Lane. The event will be hosted by Pete Hughes of Libraries NI, the organisation’s podcast host, who regularly interviews authors and explores literature through the library service’s BookCited! Podcast

Patrick Gale is one of the UK’s most celebrated contemporary novelists, widely admired for his vivid characters and thoughtful exploration of family, identity and belonging. His many acclaimed novels include A Place Called Winter, Notes from an Exhibition and Take Nothing With You, and his work has been adapted for television and radio.

During the event, Gale will discuss his latest novel Love Lane, a poignant story of reunion, longing and self-discovery. The novel follows Harry Cane as he returns home, only to find that the past begins to stir in unexpected ways, leading to a powerful exploration of escape, entrapment and what home and family really mean.

The evening will offer audiences the chance to hear about Gale’s writing life, the themes that shape his novels and the creative process behind his latest work.
