Discover Your Digital Potential as Libraries NI Celebrates Get Online Week 2024 with Free Workshops and eClinics

Get Online Week a campaign by Good ThingsLibraries NI is inviting everyone to join in this year’s Get Online Week, taking place from Monday 14 to Sunday 20 October. This initiative aims to empower individuals with the skills and confidence to navigate the digital world. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your digital skills, libraries have something for everyone.

Throughout the week, libraries across Northern Ireland will host a variety of engaging events designed to enhance your digital literacy. From introductory sessions on using tablets and smartphones to workshops on online safety and Kubo Robot coding for four to ten year olds, there is an opportunity for everyone to build digital skills and confidence.

One of the highlights of Get Online Week is our 1-2-1 eClinics, available at numerous locations. These personalised sessions provide tailored support to help you with your mobile devices, general IT queries, and accessing library eServices. Whether you need help setting up an email account, learning how to download eBooks, or understanding social media, our friendly staff are here to assist you.

In addition to the eClinics, we will be offering specialised workshops on topics such as online shopping, using the iPad camera, and accessing the British Film Institute's (BFI) free streaming service, BFI Replay. These sessions are designed to make technology more accessible and enjoyable, ensuring that everyone can benefit from the digital age.

For those interested in family history, several libraries will host sessions on using the Irish 1901 and 1911 Census and the Irish Genealogy website. These sessions provide a fantastic opportunity to explore your ancestry and uncover fascinating stories from the past.
