Libraries NI Kick Off Christmas Early with Festive Events Throughout November

November marks the beginning of an exciting Christmas season in libraries across Northern Ireland. A range of events will be happening throughout the month to get people of all ages into the festive spirit. From craft workshops and Storytime sessions to poetry readings and reminiscence gatherings, this month offers everyone a chance to enjoy a relaxed, creative lead-up to the festivities.
With an emphasis on hands-on activities, these events provide an opportunity to make something meaningful, hear from local talent, or simply enjoy some early Christmas atmosphere.
This November we’re setting the tone for a festive season that centres on community, creativity, and connection. Our lineup of events gives people of all ages a chance to come together, try something new, and get in the mood for the celebrations.

Christmas Crafts of Cheer – Decorations Craft Session
Coleraine Library Monday 25 November 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Enjoy a craft session with festive tea and mince pies in Coleraine Library.
Causeway Museum Presents – Christmas Memories Session
Portrush Library Tuesday 26 November 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Share stories from past Christmases in a special session with Causeway Coast & Glens Museum Services in Portrush Library.
A Very Merry Murder Mystery
Carnlough Library Thursday 28 November: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Can you reveal the murderer in time for Christmas at this adult Murder Mystery event in Carnlough?
Joyful Crafts – An Afternoon of Christmas Craft
Kilrea Library Thursday 28 November: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Kilrea Library hosts a Christmas craft afternoon in partnership with NACN, CRUN, and PHA. Booking required.
Christmas Wreath-Making Workshop Aged 16+
Antrim Library Friday 29 November: 1:30pm – 3:00pm
Bring your own foliage to create a beautiful, unique wreath at Antrim Library.
Christmas Craft Session for Children
Creggan Library Friday 29 November: 3:15pm – 4:15pm
A fun craft session for ages 5 - 11 to make tree decorations (children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult).
Holywood Christmas Market Event
Holywood Library Saturday 30 November: 11:30am and 2:30pm
A Christmas Storytime suitable for children aged 4 - 8, to celebrate Holywood Christmas Market and the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Write a Letter to Santa
Maghera Library Saturday 30 November
As part of Maghera Christmas Lights switch on, Maghera Library will host Mrs. Claus Storytimes at 3:15pm, 3:45pm, and 4:15pm with plenty of time in between for children to talk with Mrs. Claus or write their letters to Santa and post them into the special North Pole Postbox.
