As part of a welcome gift handed over by Fane Street Primary School to commemorate Little Amal’s visit to Northern Ireland, Libraries NI donated the book Caterpillar Dreams by local illustrator and author Clive McFarland who is currently working out of the Creative Space in Omagh Library.
To mark Little Amal's journey, Libraries NI has put together a booklist featuring titles that invite readers to step into the shoes of those who have had to leave their homes and embark on new journeys. Each book in the collection has been thoughtfully chosen to provide an understanding of the challenges faced by refugees while highlighting the importance of resilience, kindness, and building connections with others.
Libraries NI District Officer Sian Cairns said;
"Libraries NI is delighted to be part of Little Amal's visit to Northern Ireland and to contribute to the welcome gift presented by Fane Street Primary School.
“Books in the booklist put together by Libraries NI, are available to borrow for free for all Libraries NI members. Readers are invited to explore the collection and discover stories that celebrate the strength of those who have had to leave their homes and embark on new journeys.”
Library membership is free to anyone living, working or studying in Northern Ireland and with no proof of ID or address required, joining is even easier.
