Beloved by Toni Morrison
The first classic I have ever read, and it is not something I have ever been interested in reading before, the way of writing, poetic and different sounding. But it was a book club book choice, so I persevered, and honestly it wasn’t hard to keep reading.
I did have to slow my reading down so as to make myself understand everything I was reading, to be able to take it all in. I was shocked by a lot that I read, the way life was back in the 1800’s and especially for African American slaves.
