The Choice

The Choice by Edith Eger

An inspirational read! The Choice is one of the most memorable books that I’ve ever read. It is based upon the life story of Edith Eger. The book begins with Edith, a 16 year old girl aspiring to become a Ballerina. However, her life soon drastically changes as she and her family are taken to Auschwitz. Her mother gives her advice which will ultimately help Edith to survive and thrive after liberation, ‘Just remember, no one can take away from you what you’ve put in your mind.’ The book focuses on the fact that we may not be able to choose our life circumstances but we can always choose how we respond. She went on to live an inspiring and fulfilling life, including becoming a world renowned clinical psychologist and publishing The Choice at the age of 90.
