Stay Connected with the Big Summer Read

Stay connected to reading throughout the summer holidays.

This year’s theme is The Story Tree — a summer reading journey where every book helps children grow their own tree of stories, imagination and discovery.

To help schools promote the challenge with parents, carers and pupils before the end of term, we have created a range of downloadable promotional resources which can be used across websites, newsletters and social media channels.

The Big Summer Read is free to join and will take place in Libraries NI branches across Northern Ireland throughout July and August 2026.

Families can sign up from Monday 29 June in all public libraries.
