Knit and Natter (Thursdays)  

Weekly every Thursday from 6:30pm to 7:45pm.
 

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Tea and Newspapers  

Weekly every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday morning from 10:30am to 12 noon.
 

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Chatterbooks Junior Reading Group  

First Saturday of every month (please contact the library for specific dates) between 11:30am – 12:30pm.
 

Booking is advisable.

Chatterbooks is an exciting Junior Reading Group where children aged 7 - 11 years can come along to chat about their favourite books, enjoy fun activities and crafts and meet new friends.

Rhythm and Rhyme (Tuesday and Saturday Mornings)  

Weekly every Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 11:00am.

Booking is advisable.
Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

‘Under the Tree’ Storytime  

Weekly, every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. Suitable for ages 4-8 years accompanied by an adult.

Storytime sessions help children develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Adult Reading Group  

Second Monday of every month between 11:00am – 12 noon.
 

This group aims to allow everyone’s reading experiences to be shared and enjoyed. Participants don’t have to be library members but if you join, you can borrow the book the group will be discussing for free.

Rathlin Sound Festival - 'Songs of the Sea' Workshop  

As part of the Rathlin Sound Festival, Ballycastle Library invites you to join us for a special 'Songs of the Sea' evening in celebration of Ballycastle’s rich maritime history. Led by our Library Staff, enjoy an informal, friendly sea‑shanty workshop, where you’ll learn the stories behind traditional working songs, enjoy live demonstrations, and even join in a few shanties. A warm, relaxed evening honouring the seafaring culture of the Rathlin Sound.

Empathy Day Festival - 'Tides and Talks' An Empathy Gathering  

This Empathy Day Festival, Ballycastle Library invites you to join us for 'Tides and Talks' - a relaxed gathering  inspired by our shared connection to the sea. Like the waves along our shoreline, everyone carries their own stories, experiences and perspectives and this event offers space to slow down, enjoy a cup of tea, and spend time listening and sharing. Whether you choose to speak, listen, or simply sit and enjoy the atmosphere, come along and be part of the conversation.

Empathy Day Festival - 'Step Into Stories' Children’s Interactive Story Session  

The Empathy Day Festival celebrations continue as Ballycastle Library invites children aged 4–10 years to join us for our 'Step Into Stories' Interactive Session. Come and enjoy this relaxed interactive session, exploring kindness, understanding and connection. Listening to a range of stories that invite us to think about other people’s feelings and experiences, the session will finish with a creative craft activity, where children will create their own Empathy Footsteps, thinking about what it means to walk in someone else’s shoes and see the world from another point of view.

Open Art Evening' with Sara Andrews  

Ballycastle Library is delighted to welcome Sara Andrews into the library to host an 'Open Art Evening'. Sara is an acrylic artist whose work explores colour, texture, and personal interpretation through layered and expressive techniques. During the 'Open Art Evening', Sara will be present to discuss her artwork, creative process, and influences, and to take part in an open, informal discussion with attendees.
